2009 it's going to be a very exciting year!!!

With the current credit crisis it will be interesting to see how the arena of web development will evolve. But when companies will have to cut budgets and drop people it might be a good idea for these companies to switch to open source projects, like Drupal.

So it is to be expected that in 2009, many companies will save money by building their new websites in an open source CMS.

It's good to read that our beloved Dries thinks the same: http://buytaert.net/predictions-2009.

It's also great to read that the release of Drupal 7 will not be in the first quarter of 2009, but in the last one. This is great because now Drupal 7 will have even more new features (fields aka cck in core, better views integration in core and hopefully the very interesting system handlers, http://www.garfieldtech.com/blog/handlers-rfc-2).

Another reason why this is very exciting, is because now Drupal 5 will be supported a bit longer. This will help people to switch their sites to Drupal 6 and will improve the adoption of Drupal 6.

So a very, very, very good 2009 for everyone!!!
