Drupal.be redesign sprint

Last Saturday there was the big Drupal.be/Drupal.nl redesign sprint. The goal was to redesign the Drupal.be/Drupal.nl website. The redesign process of the Drupal.be/Drupal.nl website already started one year ago. Because the activity wasn’t high enough to really make progress, Dries Buytaert suggested, on a redesign meeting with the other Drupal.be/Drupal.nl redesigners at our office, that a redesign sprint would be the best way to go.

As Byelex we had 4 people working on the Drupal.be/Drupal.nl redesign. I, Johnny van de Laar, worked on the Events part of the website. Imre Gmelig Meijling, Mirjam Schouten and Björn van Beek where working on the new theme.

The redesign sprint was on the 14th of February, which also is Valentine’s day. Therefore, from Byelex, I went alone. But there were plenty of other Drupaleers attending the redesign sprint. Roel de Meester, from Krimson, organized the sprint and These Days provided the location.

The sprint started for me at 8:30 and I stayed till 22:30. So it was quite a long day for me, but I think Roel even worked way longer.

The day was very interesting, everyone was very devoted to make the site ready to launch at the end of the day and I had a lot of fun. At the end everyone was very tired and we were unsure if the site would be ready enough for launch. But if you spent so much time working on the project, not launching the site would be a big disappointment, so therefore we decided to run the extra mile, finish up all loose ends and launch the site around mid night.

The website is online now for everyone to see, please report any bugs that you found on the forum and hopefully within a few weeks the site will be completely finished.

We from Byelex want to thank everyone who worked on the website, together we showed what an open source community is all about. Our biggest thank will of course go to Roel de Meester, who was the project leader and who probably spent most time and effort into making this project succeed.
