Drupaljam IV Enschede

With all the spare time we have, we're getting ourselves ready for DrupalJam part IV in Enschede. Yes, its a long drive, even for us.

DrupalJam 20 maart Enschede

Almost half a year has passed since Drupaljam Breda and over two months since our New Year Meetup 2009. Much has happened, most of it behind the scenes. Drupal.be was launched. We've worked out a business plan on Drupal Commander. We plan to beta-launch in April. We've worked hard on current and upcoming projects, which we will surely showcase here and on Drupal.be (and other websites) soon. We will be sponsoring Drupalcon 2009 because we firmly believe in Drupal and are expanding our development within Holland and outside of our borders.

Showcase Opinion Miner: Analyzing the online public opinion

We've also come up with a neat service that will rock you when you see it. Moreover businesses and managers aiming for online success will greatly benefit from what we have done within this niche oriented, Drupal based service: Opinion Miner.

There are blogs on almost any topic. There is a huge amount of information to sift through if you really need answers on strategic questions. But time is always short and marketing surveys are time-consuming and costly. Opinion Miner is all about mining for information and analyzing trends and opinions online. This way it saves a huge amount of time by offering a means to answer questions like:

  • Is Microsoft Windows Vista really as bad as everyone says?
  • What are people writing about my competition?
  • What is the general opinion on professional Drupal services?

Now we offer the means for Marketing Managers, CEOs, Visionaries and other decision makers to accurately scan the internet for general opinions and people's emotions within certain boundaries and parameters, 24 hours a day. Original articles are extracted from original feeds and tagged on various subjects (Yahoo Terms) and customized categories (Open Calais). From there we analyze content for opinions and emotional constructs based on linguistic algorithms and logic and apply emotion tags (using Open Dover, from Byelex).  This is where Drupal meets Java.

Our chief executive Herman Vissia is doing a showcase on Opinion Miner at the upcoming DrupalJam. Looking forward to seeing you all friday.

It's a pitty that I can't be at DrupalJam, but I am very curious at OpenMiner, especially at the technical issues you had building the tool.

Since you show the service OpenMiner at DrupalJam, I suppose you will give an inside view in the modules used, the special tweaks you had to do; and I suppose you will release the code as open source ? Could you point us to the repository or the articles about it ?

Hi Jo, yes we will be releasing Drupal modules soon. The session we had on DrupalJam IV in Enschede was more conceptual and had us focussing on commercial possibilites and added business value. Our next step will be working out a plan on how we want to release what we have, so everyone can look into it, or hopefully improve it. You will be hearing more about it soon (we have a coffee appointment at Krimson's in april ;-). Meanwhile, we will be adding stuff at www.opendover.nl in the weeks to come.

Thank you! It would be great if you could find a way for people to improve the service and modules in a way that fits into your business model.
Looking forward to the coffee appointment :-)
